
Both Tesfaye and Maysa have made it back to Kazakhstan after their long flight across the Hindu Kush and then across Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. In the west, Nikoo has left the Syria/Turkey border and is now in northern Iran, while Shirin’s last signal (25th March) shows her still moving around her wintering grounds in Sudan. Meanwhile, we have not heard from Vyan since the 29th of February, and unless we unexpectedly receive any further satellite readings, we are now down to following four birds – two on the western route, and two from the eastern.
